The power of freedom

As Clint and I were driving home to Marshall this weekend for Mizzou Homecoming with my sisters and brothers-in-law, I made him listen to an episode of "Naked on Cashmere". I had previously listened to this particular episode twice and found it so powerful I wanted to share it with him. If you've never heard of "Naked on Cashmere" before, it's a podcast by a poet named Atticus; he shares his own poetry (as well as others) in this very calming and soothing voice. It takes me to a place where I can just completely relax; every morning I listen to a new episode to get me into a clear, calm headspace. This particular poem was titled, "Love her, but leave her wild." Repeat those words several times in your head. Is that not the most powerful phrase?? To me it means loving someone for all that they are; never try to snuff out their fire...let them be everything that they could possibly dream of being. I will forever hold onto this phrase. I will remember this when I raise my own children.
If you take my advice and go listen to the episode, listen to it several times. I can pretty much guarantee you'll get something different out of it each time you listen.
Another powerful phrase from the episode was, "Watch the magic that occurs when you give someone just enough comfort to be themselves." When I heard this, it gave me ALL THE FEELS. Repeat this phrase several times in your head as well. Really let it sink in. If you're given and really feel the freedom to be yourself, magical things can happen. I truly believe that. I'm so glad there are people in this world who are amazing at putting into words what I've always felt! How powerful. Think about if we all lived our lives with the two aforementioned quotes in mind...how powerful.
A place to be #unapologeticallyme.
