Stay grateful

Does anyone else quickly lose sight of what they should be grateful for? Are you always wanting more? That's me. And while I do believe it's healthy to have goals and to continue to push ourselves to be better, to strive for more, I also think it's important to take a step back and be thankful for what we DO have.
Take this picture of my living room, for example. I'm always criticizing it. It's not exactly my dream living room. There's a lot about the decor I would like to change and I've been wanting to update our furniture for years.

But then I think, "but look at what I DO have". How many are there out there who don't even have a living room? Who don't have a comfy couch to relax on at the end of the day? Who couldn't even fathom the possibility of updating their furniture one day?
I am beyond blessed in this life. I have so much to be thankful and grateful for.
My team with LimeLife by Alcone has been doing a challenge throughout the month of May, essentially pushing ourselves to show up each and every day. One of the items on our list each day is to go through the list of things we're grateful for as well as our daily affirmations. My list of things I'm grateful for will fluctuate a bit, but it always includes family, community and faith.
What would be on your list every day? Is it the roof over your head? Your pups? Freedom? I think it's such an amazing practice to say these things out loud, each and every day. Having gratitude makes you appreciate your life for what it already is. Gratitude may look different to those in different social or financial statuses, but that's okay. As long as we're taking the time to give thanks for what we do have in our lives, we'll be able to live each day to the fullest.
How about those affirmations? These will also fluctuate, but I always make sure to repeat them back to myself at least five times. To really make sure they sink in. Yesterday my affirmations were:
1. I am strong
2. I am beautiful
3. I am a leader
4. I am worthy
5. I am smart
You can copy these affirmations if you want. Go ahead :)...start saying them out-loud to yourself. It may seem silly at first, but after the second or third time through you'll be like...HOLY SH**, I AM S-T-R-O-N-G. I AM B-E-A-U-T-F-U-L. You'll really start to believe it and guess what...it's TRUE. You ARE all of those things, but for some reason, we take a little convincing. We don't typically have people in our lives who will constantly tell us these things, so we have to take charge and do it ourselves!
I've talked about daily rituals quite a bit on this blog. I may even be getting a little redundant. ;) But I just cannot stress enough how important it is to have a routine & to stick to it. I also cannot stress enough how important it is to take that time to boost your inner confidence. To tell yourself that you can conquer anything...because you CAN.
It's human nature to get down on ourselves. It happens frequently and a lot of the time without warning. But if we wake up every single morning and begin our day with 5+ things we're grateful for and 5+ affirmations, we're setting ourselves up for success. You'll be much less likely to let that negativity enter your mind.
So, why don't you join this part of LimeLife's May Challenge??? All I'm asking you to do is write down at least five things you're grateful for and at least five affirmations each morning. That's it! Super easy, super quick. And watch your inner self start to smile again. :)
Who's with me?!
