Hey, hi, hello...again! I am so sorry for leaving my dedicated (lol) readers hanging for quite a while now, but a pretty big thing happened in my life that took me a bit off track (we'll get into that shortly)! But, I'm back! And I'm hoping it's for good. ;)
That big, huge, giant, ENORMOUS thing that happened in my life? It's called getting engaged. WHAT?!?!?! Yes, I am an engaged woman. It happened over a month ago while we were on our vacation in Glacier National Park. Clint and I ended up changing our flight out to Kalispell to a couple days earlier than planned (the flights were so much cheaper that it basically paid for our Airbnb for those two days) and that gave him the perfect window to pop the question.
We were staying in downtown Whitefish and had absolutely ZERO plans for those two days, which was incredible and my preferred way of vacationing, honestly. Ya'll know I'm a planner, but the most relaxing vacations are the ones where you have absolutely no plans whatsoever. And these first couple of days were exactly that.
We arrived on Friday, June 19th in the afternoon. After we got checked in to the Airbnb, can you guess where we went, immediately? A bar. A not just any bar, a bar that served margaritas and Mexican food. The perfect way to start our trip. After dinner and some drinks, we walked around downtown, went to a really fancy wine bar (super underdressed, but it was still amazing) and headed back to the Airbnb to relax. Where I then became FAMISHED (dramatic, per usual) only a couple hours later so we walked to a grocery store a couple blocks away and I got a frozen breakfast bowl that tasted as if it were the greatest meal I'd ever had in my entire life.
Saturday morning we, once again, woke to zero plans. We went to get breakfast at Amazing Crepes, which was, as the name suggests, amazing. After that, we walked around the town, through a local park and back to the Airbnb. We started looking up trails close by that were outside of the park (we didn't want to venture into the park until our family got there) and found a fairly easy one just a few miles from our place.
The trail was called Lion Mountain and is about a 1.3 mile hike up to a lake overlook. Once we got to the top, I was doing my usual thing, taking all the pictures and I hear Clint say, "hey babe" behind me. I turn around and he's down on one knee with this STUNNING, PERFECT, EXACTLY WHAT I WANTED, ring in his hand. He didn't say anything other than, "will you marry me" but he didn't have to. It was the perfect moment, and after freaking out for what felt like five minutes, I, of course, said yes.
The view before I said yes to forever:

I have been on a high ever since.
And planning a wedding is SO MUCH FUN. I don't really prefer spending all the money, but the planning and the looking at pretty things...I could do that all. day. long. And because of Covid-19, we've had to make decisions prettyquickly. We knew we wanted to get married in the spring, and we knew we didn't want to wait almost two years, so that meant we were getting married in the spring of 2021.
When we got back from vacation, I started looking at venues and reaching out to them about setting up a time to come check out the space. We had looked at a couple and reached out to SEVERAL only to find out that dates in the spring were pretty much non-existent.
I started panicking.
Until a friend from work came over and said, "Hey, have you heard of..." (not going to disclose the location yet BECAUSE IT'S WHAT WE PICKED *insert jazz hands*) and my heart started racing. I had, in fact, NOT heard of this venue that was absolutely stunning, in the perfect location, with the perfect "vibe" to fit us, and...with dates open in the spring.
It was meant to be.
We went to check it out that evening and signed on the dotted line the next day.
Ever since then, it's been me on Pinterest every single night, saving ALL the gorgeous images and trying to figure out how I can do it for cheaper (HA). And I am having a blast with it. Which has taken the focus off some other things, including this blog/social media, but this time in my life is only going to happen once.
And I'm going to take advantage of it. I'm going to enjoy it. I'm not going to worry about what other people think or what their opinions are of my new priorities. This is one of the most special times Clint and I will ever have together and it's going to take precedence over some other things.
As we move along in this wonderful time in our lives, I'll be sharing any tips and tricks we learn along the way, and especially after our big day. I don't want to share too much with you all because I want the day to be a surprise for those who attend, and even for those who don't and see pictures afterward.
What I do know and can share is that it is going to be the BEST. DAY. EVER.
And that is an understatement.
Thank you all for being patient with me and for hanging in there while I've taken some time off. Thank you for sharing in our excitement. And thank you, in advance, for any prayers you may shoot up as we plan a wedding during Covid-19.
XOXO,
