Learning to enjoy the little things

I was never very good at this and still struggle with it, but when I met Clint two years ago, it completely changed my outlook on life. A lot of you probably don't know him very well, but he is the KING of enjoying the small things. He is the happiest simply being outside, taking it all in. He doesn't need much, if anything, to enjoy life. He is also the KING of not stressing the small stuff. How amazing would that be? To find such joy in the smallest of things and to not stress over things that really don't matter? Well Clint has taught me (is teaching me) to do just that. It's one of the many things I love about him.
My parents, I think, are also the Queen and King of enjoying the little things. They bought property out in the country, built a house on it, and are now running a small cattle business - all for the sake of enjoying the small things. So they can look out their front windows every evening to watch the sunset. So they can come home every evening and enjoy the beauty that is the world. I aspire to have that one day as well. They have created that dream in me.
So as I'm sitting on my back patio, enjoying the sunny weather with my pups, I'm reflecting on how wonderful this small, small world is. How lucky I am that I get to take a day off and blog about my feelings with my sweet Labrador pups sitting by my side. How lucky I am that on this same day I completely trashed Clint's Mac (which BTW he didn't even care at all; didn't phase him for a second) and was able to go to Best Buy and purchase a new one. A brand new Mac. Now I'm not saying it didn't stress me out to do so (I was SWEATIN' thinking about paying for it), but I had the money. It wasn't going to empty my bank account to do so. How lucky am I? There are a lot of people in this world that wouldn't think twice about buying a new computer, but there are also a lot of people who could never even contemplate it.
I always find that it's easy for me to notice and enjoy the little things when I'm sitting on a patio with a glass of wine in hand (not sure what that says about me LOL). It seems to be my happy place. I sit back and reflect on all of the things I'm thankful for: family, friends, pups, Clint, our house, WINE, a job I enjoy, a fresh bouquet of flowers, long hikes, freedom, delicious food, etc. I think this is something we should all do more often; make it a point to find your happy place and reflect on what is important to you. It helps bring clarity when life can get so, so foggy at times.
So, how have I learned to enjoy the little things? Clint, (and my parents) quite honestly. And I'm still learning, but he has been the main source of inspiration for me. It's something so small, but enjoying the little things involves simply taking a break from all of the "stuff" going on around you and enjoying what's right in front of you. Clint does that so well and I admire him for it.
I'd love to hear in the comments what ya'll's happy place is and how you get there. How often do you get there? What are the things you're most thankful for? Who in your life has helped you enjoy the little things?
