Fighting self-doubt

We all know how easy it is to get in that headspace where all we can think of is how we're going to fail. That no matter how hard we try, how much effort we put in, we're never going to get to where we want to be. This has been heavy on my mind pretty much my entire life, but especially since I started this blog. This is SUCH a saturated field; there are so many amazing women out there with amazing blogs, who have already created this powerful platform and I'm here starting from scratch. It's unbelievably hard to push past that. I know that this isn't going to happen for me with the snap of a finger and a few posts on Instagram, but it's very difficult to hold onto the thought of the positive impact that you COULD have in someone's life (as well as your own). Especially when you start doing research and find pages with gorgeous feeds, beautiful blogs and their following doesn't even scratch the surface of some others. If these women can't attain the following they're probably searching for, how the heck am I going to???

These negative thoughts course through our minds on the daily, #amiright? And social media/the following we have (or lack thereof) is just the beginning. Work, family, friends, society...all of it. All of these things put pressure on us to be "perfect". "Perfect" in the eyes of others and NOT ourselves, which is the biggest problem. It's much easier to say this than it is to actually practice it, but we all need to throw our hands up in the air and say "WHO THE HECK CARES?". Your biggest priority should be pleasing and discovering yourself. Because until you do that, you won't be able to help anyone else.

I started listening to a new podcast this morning called the Align Your Life Podcast by Namaste Jenay. Jenay is a life coach and an expert in building a brand via social media. It's hard to listen to her and NOT start to believe in yourself. She talks a lot about how the universe is in control of our destiny (stars aligning, horoscopes, etc.), which I am very skeptical of, but I do believe that things happen for a reason. God, in whatever form that is, has a plan for you, for me, for each and every one of us. When life isn't going the way we planned, hoped or dreamed of, we have to throw our hands up and give control over to the one who controls it all. Now, I don't believe that things are just going to come to you; be given to you. But I do believe it's okay to ask for help. To take a deep breath and trust that if you're giving it your all, God (the universe, whatever it is you believe in) will come into your life and bring you the relief that you need. It may not be in the form you originally wanted or thought it would be, but that's okay too. Take it all in and ask "Why? Why is this happening to me, in this way, right now, in this moment?" Take time to reflect and you WILL find the clarity you're looking for.

Fighting self-doubt is all about accepting that life isn't always going to go the way you planned. You're going to fail. Bad things ARE going to happen to you. But trust that it's for a reason. Grow from it. Use it to your benefit.

A place to be #unapologeticallyme.
