7 workouts to try today (that don't require equipment OR a membership)

I'm getting off the Whole30 kick for a day here to walk you through some of the best workouts I've done in my life; some that are more laid back and some that will get your heart racing. In order to be really, truly physically healthy, you have to not only conquer your diet woes, but you have to get that booty working out! Doing just one or the other isn't going to give you massive results. Consistency is also key; you can't workout for a week, take a break for a week, get back on it, take another break...etc. If you approach getting healthy that way, it's going to 1. be so much harder to get to where you want to be and 2. it's going to be extremely difficult to maintain any weightloss you may experience.


I also realize that it can be difficult to get to a gym and/or that you may not have the necessary equipment to do a lot of the workouts that are out there. PLUS, gym memberships can be expensive. BUT enough with the excuses...:) there are plenty of workouts out there that don't require a membership or equipment. Here are some of the best ones I've tried:


1. Inner Thigh Burner

20 Sumo Squats

40 Side Leg Raises (20 each side)

40 Deep Side Lunges (20 each side)

40 Leg Extensions (20 each side)

40 Side Leg Extensions (20 each side)

40 Side Leg Raises (20 each side)


I PROMISE you will feel this in your glutes and inner thighs. Repeat if you need a bigger burn!

2. Burptacular

10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 reps for time of each of the below:


Burpees

Sumo Squats

Burpees

Pushups

Burpees

Goblet Squats


Burpees get my heart racing like none other. This workout KILLS me. Take your time and breathe through each rep.

3. The Dirty Burpee Workout

16 Burpees

.25 mile run

12 Burpees

.25 mile run

8 Burpees

.25 mile run

4 Burpees

.25 mile run

Repeat :)


Again with the burpees, I know...I'm sorry. But this one is a killer calorie burner and takes that heart rate to another level.

4. Pyramid

100 Jump Ropes (just pretend if you don't have a jump rope)

90 Sit Ups

80 Walking Lunges (or step back lunges if you don't have space)

70 Dips (use a chair)

60 Knees to Elbows

50 Jumping Squats

40 Push Ups

30 Box Jumps (use a stool or steps somewhere in your house...be careful!)

20 Candlesticks

1 Mile Run


This is a great workout that mixes in quite a bit of strength training with a decent amount of cardio. Give yourself plenty of time to get through it because it will wear you out quick!

5. Flat Tummy

Roll Ups - 3 sets; 60 seconds each

Bird Dogs - 3 sets; 60 seconds each

Pulse Ups - 3 sets; 60 seconds each

Windshield Wipers - 3 sets; 60 seconds each

Crunches - 3 sets; 60 seconds each

Alternating Superman - 3 sets; 60 seconds each

Straight Leg Raise - 3 sets; 60 seconds each

Cross Crunches - 3 sets; 30 seconds each side

6. Full Body Burn in 20 Minutes

20 sec High Knees

10 sec rest

20 sec Froggers

10 sec rest

20 sec Speed Skaters

10 sec rest

20 sec Plank Jack

10 sec rest

20 sec Tuck Jumps

10 sec rest

20 sec Mountain Climbers

10 sec rest

20 sec Squat Jump Turns

10 sec rest

20 sec Burpees

10 sec rest

Repeat 5 times


Need a really quick one that's guaranteed to burn calories?? Here you have it! Set the timer/stop watch on your phone or use a Tabata style fitness app (there's one that's literally called Tabata that's free) to track your time/when to switch!

7. AMRAP Workout - 20 Minutes

20 minutes, as many rounds as possible:

10 Burpees

20 Pushups

30 Situps

40 Squats

50 second Plank


This is another amazing one if you need a quickie. I actually did this one this morning and WOAH...talk about an incredible 20 minute workout. Go all out and watch the calories burn!

There you have it! 7 workouts that you're able to do at home. Some you can even accomplish within 20-30 minutes! So, while the kids are sleeping or dinner is cooking, get in a quick workout. I promise you will feel better afterwards! Not only physically, but mentally. I always feel like I have a fresh mind after a workout.


And guys...I am NO expert here and I'm not a "hard core" fitness person (or whatever you want to call it). I just enjoy maintaining a healthy way of life and these are some of the workouts that have worked for me! I can get bored just running on a treadmill or elliptical for 30+ minutes and these give my workouts some variety.
