Hi, friends! Several weeks ago, Clint and I took a trip down to Camp Long Creek in Branson for our anniversary. We had received an extra discount through work and thought we'd take advantage of it! We only stayed one night, but I really wish we could've stayed longer; it was SO nice. So, I wanted to create a post for you all reviewing what we did and our overall experience in case you're planning a vacation to the Branson area and need some recommendations!
First of all, I highly recommend you stay at Camp Long Creek or Big Cedar Lodge (if it's within your budget). The new lodges at Camp Long Creek have this amazing modern yet rustic feel to them and they're right on the marina, aka easy access to the water. We stayed in one of the one-bedroom lodges with the screened in front porch and it was lovely.
Side note: if you plan a trip and can get one of the Glamping Tents, you definitely should! They looked like so much fun! We originally wanted to book one for our trip, but they were unavailable during that timeframe. A friend from work went the following weekend and said it was amazing.
Anyway! They have all of the modern amenities you could ask for plus each unit comes with a nice outdoor fire pit/picnic area (they provide a s'mores kit and everything...how cute!). And...BONUS...dogs are allowed (for a $50 fee), so we got to bring our pups with us, which turned out to be so fun. We were able to take them on walks with us everywhere and Piper (my lab who actually loves water) was able to get her swimming on. She loved it!
The only downside to this area is that there aren't a lot of restaurants within a short distance; the closest restaurants are within the Big Cedar Lodge complex, which is about a 15 minute drive from Camp Long Creek. However, if you plan ahead (we did not) and bring some of your own food/snacks, you'll be all set. You can also grab snacks at the marina, but check their hours first; they vary throughout the season.
Since we only had one night there, we didn't have a ton of time to explore. However, we live within an hour drive, so we make it down fairly often for day trips. Plus, Clint loves to fish, so we spend a decent amount of time on Table Rock Lake. ANYWAY, because we didn't have a ton of time, we (I) decided we'd spend the day at a nearby winery. We hadn't ever been to this one, but it looked beautiful per google...and was google right! The winery was called Bear Creek Wine Company and is located just north of Branson. The scenery was gorgeous and would be even more beautiful in the fall (if you happen to be planning a trip in the next month or so). The staff was super friendly, wine was delicious and the pretzels were YUM. We hung out there for the entire afternoon before making our way to our cabin.
We had such a relaxing time just enjoying each other's company, which is definitely a benefit to staying at Camp Long Creek; the vibe is so chill you can't help but to just sit back, relax, have a glass of wine and love life!
My rating: 4.8 out of 5 stars!
